If you do not know about fastag and you want to know about it, then let us tell you about it.

What is FASTag?

In order to solve the problems caused by the toll system at the toll plaza, the National Highway Authority of India started an electronic toll collection system in India in the year 2014 named Fastag. Fastag is an electronic tool with which you can pay your toll tax at the toll plaza without stoping your vehicle.

All you have to do is put a tag on your vehicle. It is installed in your vehicle’s windscreen. In this, radio frequency identification called Rafid is embedded in it. As soon as your car goes to the toll plaza, the sensor on the toll plaza cuts off the fee charged in the toll plaza from the Fastag account as soon as you come in contact with the Fastag installed on the windscreen of your car. And you pay your tax without stopping there.

Fastag has a prepaid account. For example, the Fastag account has to be recharged in the same way as you recharge your mobile number. You can recharge it online with your credit card, debit card, internet banking, or UPI payment. You can recharge your Fastag account for at least Rs 100 and up to Rs 1 lakh.

Important Information Related to Fastag

  • If you have 2 vehicles then a different tag will be required for both vehicles.
  • The validity of a fastag is up to 5 years.
  • If you live in an area of 10 km from any toll plaza then you will get the necessary cashback in your tag.
  • You will get a 2.5% discount on toll tax if you have a tag.
  • If your tag is damaged, then you have to pay an extra fee of Rs 200 to replace it.
  • If the Fastag scanner at any toll plaza not working properly and your vehicle has a valid tag sticker, then you can pass through that toll plaza without paying any toll.

These Three Important Precautions Should Be Taken While Using It.

1. Paste Your Fastag ID at the Correct Position into Your Car

Yes, here is a very important precaution that you have to keep in mind. If you do not paste it properly then you are not able to take advantage of it properly. When you pass through the toll plaza, the scanner that is there is not able to scan your fastag properly.

When you are going to apply it to your vehicle, first clean the glass in front of your car properly or clean the surface of the place where you want to stick it.

One more thing to keep in mind is that when you go to paste it in the mirror of your car, then paste it from inside the car. If you stick it out, then your chances of your fastag getting worse are high. Or it may spoil after the rain.

2. Always Keep Enough Balance in Your Fastag Account

Most people do not pay attention to it. You should keep your Fastag account recharged and keep enough balance if you pass through Toll Plaza frequently.

Whenever you leave home, check your Fastag account balance once. If you do not do this and if your vehicle is not scanned then you may have to pay double toll tax there. According to the rule, whatever your toll collection is, it will all be online. If your payment is not made then you will have to pay double tax even if your tag is placed.

So you always kept checking your account and recharging from time to time.

3. Keep a Distance Away From the Car Ahead of You

Whenever you pass through the fastag lane of a toll plaza, at that time you have to keep in mind that you have to move forward by making a distance of about 3 meters from the car ahead of you. This is why it is necessary because sometimes the tag of the car ahead of you does not work and you are behind it and your tag gets scanned due to being close.

So you have to take care and keep a distance away from your front car.
